SAN FRANCISCO
It’s difficult to pinpoint everything that makes San Francisco such an amazing city for running but I can’t think of a better way to explore the city than in a pair of running shoes. The weather and climate in San Francisco is almost ideal for running year round. In the winter, the San Francisco bay helps keep the temperature from dipping too far below 40 degrees, and breeze from the pacific helps keep the summer temps ideal for an afternoon run.
The geographical diversity is another feature that really adds to the runner’s experience in San Francisco. You may run along the Embarcadero by Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf if you seek a flat paved surface. You may run along ocean beach if you crave the sand and sea. Run among the trees and lakes in Golden Gate Park if you want a brief escape from the hustle and bustle of your urban environment. Run through the Presidio and across the Golden Gate Bridge for stunning views of the Marin Headlands, Angel Island and Alcatraz. And if you want hills....we got those too.
